Its been awhile.....

But I have some good excuses!  Life got in the way.... then we moved, and then I had the cutest new project ...
Oliver George....  Oliver because we liked it and George after my grandpa who passed away 2 years ago.

Anyway, I have had a little time to do some crafting.  I made an art hanger for Emma,  I got the idea from something I saw at target, and figured I could make one for less.

This project was super easy.  I already had the letters for her name, but you could buy vinyl ones or purchase and paint letters from the craft store.  Then I purchased the picket fences pre done at Michaels.  I went to Home Depot and had the wood cut to size for me.  Then my dear friend over at http://justthreemoredays.blogspot.com/cut out the bird house and birdie shapes for me.  I let Emma paint the birdies and glued clothes pins on the back of them.  Simple and cute!

When I was pregnant with Everett I made him and Emma the blue towel hangers.  I needed to make one for Oliver too, and since we rent I needed a way to hang them all, that wouldn't leave dozens of holes in the land lords walls.  I think it turned out pretty cute!

I have an art hanger in progress for Everett too.  Will post that when I am finished.

Valentines Cards for the Feel the Love Blog Hop!

Photobucket
Welcome to my blog on this blog hop!
Sorry I'm not more detailed for you, I'm fighting off a nasty cold.
Here goes!
DD helped me make some of these for family.  I would have liked to do more to them but a 3 year old has a short attention span!
I used the Create A Critter cart and my gypsy to weld 2 acorns together.  Then I sent the top of my acorn through the swiss dots to give it the extra effect

I made a V-day card for my hubby, but I wasn't really happy with it, so I made another, and still not all that happy.  Oh, well I'm sure he will like it.

And even more owls

These 3 are the ones that were commissioned

this is the one that is similiar to Everetts

I made it so the tummy will get a "raggy" effect around the edges

Ok so this one turned out totally different than what was in my head, and it is full of mistakes, I'm not even sure if I should sell it. You can't see in the pictures the flaws. The bonding on the tummy wrinkled, the spot I sewed it shut stretched and more. And she was supposed to look sweet, not sad.

So I need a good story behind her for my etsy shop, maybe unrequited love? Oh and she also has a heart on her bum

More Owls!

I have made a slew of owls over the past few months and here they are.  I've definitely gotten better, but could still use some improvement.  My 3 year old helped me name some of them

I also made him a pair of pj pants from his daddys old pair that became irreparable.
Here are the original pants with Everetts next to them to show the size difference :D

The finished product with a close up of the logo.  I cut the logo out of the big pants and made it like a patch onto the little pants, the edges will fray the more the pants get washed

Yoga Pants and a Baby Owl

I've been on a real sewing kick lately.  I found this blog that shows you how to make comfy yoga pants out of an old tshirt. They were super easy to make!  Start with an old Tshirt

Make it into pants!

My photographer is 3

I also made a baby owl with a hidden pocket in the back.  He is a tooth fairy pillow.

But its a DRY heat.....

Here in Arizona it is HOT.  Not just mildly hot or even hot.  It is hotter than H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks Hot!
People always say to me "but its a DRY heat!"  Dry heat my foot!  Would you want to live in an oven?
Its so hot here that you can bake cookies in your car!  So, to prove my point, I did it!

Here are the cookies waiting to be put into the "oven"
Don't they look good?  Don't you just want to pick one off the tray and eat it?
Ok so I put tinfoil on the cookie sheet and then put a towel under the cookie sheet just in case it got too hot I didn't want it to damage my dashboard.
And in they go.  I couldn't get a good shot that read the thermometer, but it didn't matter anyways because after this shot it overheated and stopped showing me the temp.  At this point it was 117 outside and 148.5 in the car.  I'm sure it got even hotter in there.
Half an hour later

Another half hour

And later

Finally!!!  It took about 2.5 hours, they were a little chewy in the middle but thats just how I like them
Yum!!!!
So maybe there IS one positive thing about living in AZ after all.  I could make cookies while running errands and not get hungry.....
